Shipping outside Sweden

We would happily send our honey and Dr. Gost beekeeping products across Europe. Right now we do not, and we would rather explain why than leave you guessing at a short country list.

What changed on 12 August 2026

The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation — Regulation (EU) 2025/40, known as PPWR — has applied since 12 August 2026. Under it, a shop that sells to a customer in another EU Member State becomes the legal producer of the packaging in that customer’s country: the box, the tape, the label, the jar. That means registering in that country’s packaging register, appointing an authorised representative established there, and reporting packaging weight every year.

There is no minimum. No small-business exemption, no threshold to stay under, no grace period. A single parcel triggers the whole obligation, and the cost is much the same whether you send one parcel a year or a thousand — several hundred to about a thousand euro per country, every year, before a single order arrives.

We are a small family company in Svinninge. For the two or three orders a year that most countries would bring us, that arithmetic does not work.

What we chose not to do

There are ways to make a cross-border sale look like something else on paper. We looked at them properly and we are not doing any of them. A rule you route around is still a rule, and a company that quietly works around packaging law is not one we would want to buy bee products from either. So the shop sells where we are registered, and we say so plainly here.

What we are waiting for

The European Parliament is working on simplifying exactly this. A vote in the Environment Committee (ENVI) is expected in the autumn of 2026, currently indicated for October or November, and one of the proposals on the table would exempt micro-enterprises from the authorised-representative requirement. If it passes, most of the cost above disappears for a company our size and we can open much of Europe at once. We will not pre-announce a result we do not have — we are waiting for it, and everyone on the list hears from us as soon as we know.

What happens when there is demand

We do not need Europe-wide registration to reach you. Once a country shows real interest, the sensible step is a local partner — a reseller or an authorised representative established there. They carry the packaging registration for that market, and you buy from someone in your own country, usually with faster and cheaper delivery than a parcel from Sweden. Which country we do that in first is decided by the list below.

Outside the EU

PPWR is an EU instrument and does not reach beyond the Union, so a country outside it is a different question rather than a harder version of this one — but the shop does not sell there either, for a plainer reason: an export out of Sweden is VAT-free, our prices are shown with VAT included, and each shipment needs its own customs paperwork. Rather than half-solve that in checkout, we handle those as individual export enquiries.
